I am an editor for A Bright Wall in a Dark Room.
March is an odd month. It always manages to escape my attention when I’m remembering the year. It sits in a sandwich between winter and spring and there’s not much else to do with it. The biggest event of the month is St. Patrick’s Day, and there you go. But that is part of the beauty of March — there’s no pressure there to make it a big deal or a big event. It’s a month of fun and slightly warming temperatures. March is underrated.

As has been mentioned ad nauseam, it’s a warmer winter here in New York this year, but aside from the weather, it has just been warmer overall lately. It’s nice. I like it.
I’ve made a mix for January. I hope you like it.
unhallowed
Where my Halloween mix last year was focused on monsters, my mix this year is focused on people. Because, ultimately, aren’t we much scarier as a whole?
BONUS: Castlevania and Tales from the Crypt theme songs!

I may just have compiled all of the available songs from the Breaking Bad episodes I have seen into one playlist on Spotify. I might have just done that. Could be.
I have a friend who is making the move from Chicago to California tomorrow. When he asked for what songs I constituted as good for road trips, I immediately started compiling this mix. I get a little honky tonky and ’80s when I think of driving across America (which I have done twice now). Anything that is upbeat, punchy, and will keep your foot down on the gas gets my vote.
a mix for summer
I am at work. I don’t want to be here. The weather is warm outside for the first time in weeks. Instead of lounging in a park or walking on the shore, I’m sitting at my desk. Here is a mix that is part feeling sorry for myself, part anticipating sunny days and warm nights.
Seasonal mixes are my favorite. Here’s one I made for autumn.

I am feeling mighty cynical tonight for no reason in particular.* Songs help. These don’t have much rhyme or reason, I guess, aside from than the obvious theme.

* Really! No reason! Weird, I know!
